Having had a career in the training and IT industry in South Africa – I relocated to the UK in 2007. After a period as a training manager in the UK, I became unemployed as the recession hit deep. I started looking for local volunteering opportunities and found a training administrator role with TIDE - one of Ealing CVS’ projects. This role suited me well and allowed me to demonstrate my strengths and develop my confidence. After being a volunteer for some time a paid IT position at the CVS came up and I decided to use my lifetime fascination with technology to apply.

I now manage the IT for Ealing CVS. This means that I manage the day to day hardware and software support for more than 20 colleagues. It’s a challenge which has exposed me to wider networking and learning opportunities. My passion is to make technology as easy and invisible as possible and I’ve particularly enjoyed two projects which will do this for the organisation – one has been the consolidation of various in-house databases into one CRM database (Salesforce) and the other is the implementation of this new website.
