Volunteer Week 2008

Ealing Volunteer Centre

Ealing Volunteer Centre (EVC) recruit volunteers for local organisations. EVC assist organisations to develop opportunites for volunteers and provide good practice advice to organisations.

On 5th June Ealing Volunteer Centre held its biggest awards ceremony ever, when over 200 volunteers and volunteer managers – and a dog! – received awards at a special ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of Volunteers' Week. A high point of the ceremony was a special award made to Helen Cox for excellence in management of the volunteering programme at Meadow House Hospice. The Rolls of Honour of awardwinners can be seen here – 100 Hour awards, Long Service awards and awards for Volunteer Supervisors. The winners volunteer at nearly 50 different community groups in the borough. Photographs taken at the ceremony can be ordered direct from Ealing Photographic Studio.

Certificate in Interpersonal Skills for Volunteers kicks off soon

Special short term projects build the capacity to deliver

Lots of prospective volunteers are looking for short-term placements which will help to fill a gap between employment and to gain new skills.  There may be special events your organization is planning which would  provide an ideal short term volunteering opportunity.
We will review and revise the opportunity to meet the needs of prospective volunteers.  We will broker volunteers to match these to suit your requirements. All you have to do is complete an organisation and opportunity form from key documents, return it to the Volunteer Centre.

To be successful, you must be patient, as it takes several weeks to make sure you start volunteering safely. When you have completed 100 hours of voluntary service we will award you with a special certificate.
