The Faith Project which has been running in Ealing has now ended and below is a summary of the project.
1. Ealing Faith and Belief Systems Handbook
There are a number of current information sources on faith organisations in– including those held by Ealing Council and ECVS. This strand of the project aims to gather updated information on all Ealing places of worship and faith organisations and present them in an accessible handbook that will be available to all local faith and community groups. There will also be an online version on the ECN website which can easily be updated over time if information changes. The handbook will be available from the end of March 2008.
2. Partnership for Ealing (P4E)
This is the main borough partnership bringing together organisations such as Ealing Council, Ealing Primary Care Trust, Ealing Police, Ealing Hospital and Ealing Homes, all of which work alongside local employers and voluntary sector representatives. P4E has established a range of borough strategic boards covering children and young people, health, community safety, housing and employment, the arts, sports and heritage and stronger local communities. It also organises a Partnership Assembly twice per year.
There is increasing recognition of the important role faith organisations have within the local community and P4E is keen to increase its engagement with local faith communities and involve more faith organisations in its strategic boards.
3. Ealing Faith Forum:
Many other areas have established faith forums and the Government has recently announced it would like to see such forums in every part of the country. There are already some local faith networks in Ealing and an established West London Faith Forum. This project is to scope the idea of setting up an Ealing Forum and to assess the suitability of a range of different models that may be appropriate for Ealing. Groups wishing to take part in an Ealing Faith Forum should contact Ricky Singh
4. Ealing Faith Volunteering Project
This project is currently being run by ECVS as part of a wider West London Pathfinder. It aims to celebrate volunteering among faith communities and in particular to support inter-faith volunteering and engagement with Muslim communities. The project has been successful in recruiting teams of both Muslim and non-Muslim volunteers.
A report following the Faith events in November 2007 and March 2008 has been compiled summarising the outcomes of these events.
