Ealing's Child Protections Policy & Procedures (Yellow Book)
It is ESSENTIAL that all organisations working with children and young people have in place up to date child protection procedures. If organisations do not have their own then they can adopt the 'Yellow Book'. This guidance was created with the hope that it would generate consistency across the children's workforce within Ealing, and act as a valuable tool in safeguarding Ealing's children from harm.

Safeguarding Children Policy
As well as adopting the Yellow Book, Organisations should have their own Safeguarding Children policy statement that clearly describes your organisation's aim to keeping children safe. This is necessary as most funders and quality assurance assessments request evidence of organisation's commitment to safeguarding children. Click here to view a sample policy statement.
Allegations Against Staff
Organisations need to be aware of the procedures around handling allegations against a member of staff or volunteer. See page 34-39 of the Yellow Book for more details
Nominated Safeguarding Children's Advisor (NSCA)
Every organisation must have an NSCA. All allegations or concerns over the welfare of a child should be reported to the NSCA, who must then consult with the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). NSCA's are also responsible for ensuring that an organisation has and adheres to child protection policies and procedures. See page 35-37, 54-55 of the Yellow Book for a more detailed outline of their role and responsibilities
Training
Each organisation should have a training and information plan whereby staff can be helped to be aware of child protection issues. Training is available from:
