Communities & Neighbourhoods Building Effectiveness

The Communities and Neighbourhoods Building Effectiveness (CANBE) Project helps local people and groups get the knowledge and skills to be able to work as equals with local decision-makers.

It is an innovative three year project which builds on the work that Ealing Community Network does in building a ‘community voice’ in the borough and the capacity building that is done by the Funding and Development Project.

Our main activities include:

• Providing briefings and policy support to elected community reps on local partnerships

• Free and well-researched e-policy newsletters which help to keep local groups up to date with local and national policy developments, jargon free and written in ‘plain English’ (you can sign up for these here)

• One to one support to community and neighbourhood groups to build skills and capacity

• Commissioning skills training, including core skills for new reps and community activists, and higher level skills to help groups working in the sector deliver services more effectively and empower communities and local people

• Working for ‘an equal voice for the least heard’, supporting groups that work with people who are marginalized or excluded, and helping to support the development of voluntary and community groups in Greenford, Northolt and Perivale

• Developing new and innovative ways that local people and voluntary groups can be consulted and involved in decision-making.
